PREMIERE´24: Marta Jamsja and Elle Viies on the 8., 11., 12. of March and 10.-11. of April.

PREMIERE is a platform that supports (dance) artists in creating their first dance performance, and this year Marta Jamsja will show her debut performance “Heroina” and Elle Viies her debut performance “Pastoral”.

Marta Jamsja (b. 1996) graduated from Tallinn University with a degree in choreography and received her second BA in Dance from The Royal Conservatoire of Antwerp in 2023. In her choreographic idiom, she likes to combine abstract storytelling with movement, text, and voice to explore and experiment with the image conveyed by the body, delving into topics such as social norms, gender, and sexuality.

Elle Viies (b. 2000) has a BA in dance from the University of Tartu Viljandi Culture Academy. She is interested in eerie forms of being and bodies that are both functional and phenomenal.

Külli Roosna and Kenneth Flak’s new performance “Shelter in Ouroboros” on the 28th to 30th of March.

Together with Indian dance artist Rakesh Sukesh, the dancers embark on a body-poetic journey to create personal and collective sanctuaries that help them shed the skins of worn out selves.

With “Shelter Ouroboros” Roosna and Flak continue their practice of creating interactive performance-ecosystems, where the dancers’ movements affect the sound and visual landscapes of the performance.

On April 20, performances by German choreographers Yotam Peled, Nora Otte and Anna Till from the Saksa Kevad program

In cooperation with the Goethe Institute, we will present German choreographers as part of the Saksa Kevad program. Yotam Peled’s “Where The Boys Are” is a playful performance about the meeting place of dance and martial arts and the possible softness in relationships between men. The performance “Schwanensee in Sneakers” by Nora Otte and Anna Till conveys knowledge and perspectives about dance and movement in a fun and creative way.

Sveta Grigorjeva “Dances to Dream, Res(is)t and Sleep to” On the 27th, 28th and 30th of April

In April, it will be possible to see Sveta Grigorjeva’s successful dance performance “Dances to Dream, Res(is)t and Sleep to”  again. The performance focuses on softness, sensuality and physicality, which is Grigorjeva’s response to an aggressive, warlike and patriarchal world.

Sigrid Savi “TROPICS” on the 18th to the 19th of May

Sigrid Savi’s performance that premiered in Tartu in October 2023 will come to Tallinn. “TROPICS” looks at pleasure that is constructed in this modern day with a smirk. Savi creates an oppressively relaxing environment with her characteristic humor and a slightly over-the-top resort mood to ponder what makes something enjoyable.
