The workshop takes place by reservation only.
Group size: up to 30 people (if there are 32 children in the class, this is also suitable)

Duration: 70min or 3h (according to request)
Price for the group: depends on the duration of the workshop, make an inquiry! Travel fee will be added outside Tallinn.
Venue: classroom or hall with space to move, speakers and a projector are required.

Lecture – movement workshop: Dance as a contemporary expression – from the past to the present
We welcome all interested people to a lecture-movement workshop, where contemporary dance art will be introduced through influential figures in the field of dance, their dance language and creation. From international pioneers of modern dance Isadora Duncan, Rudolf van Laban, Pina Bausch to our own contemporary dance artists Mart Kangro, Renate Keerd, Liis Vares, United Dancers of ZUGA, etc.
The aim of the lecture-workshop is to introduce the essence and meaning of dance art as a carrier of our contemporary artistic values and beliefs. It consists of a theoretical overview, where dance artists of their time and their basic creative principles and credos are introduced, and a practical part, where you can try out what you heard in the lecture yourself through various creative tasks.
Questions to which answers will be sought during the lecture-workshop:
How have socio-political background systems influenced the development of dance art throughout time?
How has social understanding been expressed in the aesthetics of movement and contemporary dance art?
What were the influences of other art disciplines (music, film, visual arts, etc.) on dance?
The lecture-workshop will be conducted by:
Evelyn Tuul is a choreographer, dancer and dance teacher. In 2010, she graduated with a BA in Dance and Making Performance from Coventry University (cum laude), successfully completed the Jose Limón Professional Studies program in New York, and for 2 years after that, she lived in London as a freelance dancer and participated in various projects. In 2012-2014, she completed Jose Limón’s teacher training courses every year in Switzerland, England, and New York. In Estonia, she taught at the Viljandi Cultural Academy and various dance schools. Has practiced somatic dance techniques throughout, studied in depth and organized various workshops in the field of contact improvisation. Has also improved herself at the Dance and Movement Therapy Basic Training (2017) at Tallinn University.
Maria Uppin-Sarv is a dancer, choreographer and dance teacher who is interested in working with different styles and movement options. She has studied choreography at Tallinn University and modern dance at the José Limón Dance School in New York. She currently teaches at the Tallinn Ballet School and the Lee Dance Ensemble and participates as a dancer in various productions.
