Baltic Dance Platform is an initiative started at the end of 2018 by three Baltic countries’ dance organisations: Sõltumatu Tantsu Lava/STL (Estonia), Lithuanian Dance Information Centre and Latvian Dance Information Centre to promote Baltic contemporary dance internationally, create a stronger collective international presence of the Baltic contemporary dance scene.

The next Baltic Dance Platform showcase will take place on February 9th – 11th, 2024 in Riga. The 3-day showcase will bring together productions from Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania to introduce the most remarkable artists of contemporary dance in the Baltic States.

In total, 77 eligible applications were submitted in two categories: full-scale dance performance (including digital performances and dance films) and pitch presentation. 26 applications were received from Estonia, 21 from Latvia, and 30 from Lithuania. Three performances and five pitch presentations were selected from each Baltic country to participate in the event.

Estonia will be represented by Netti Nüganen’s “The Myth: last day”, Sveta Grigorjeva with “Dances to Dream, Res(is)t and Sleep to”, as well as Sigrid Savi and Hanna Kritten Tangsoo with the performance “Cowbody. Oh wow, it’s you!”.
In pitch sessions Liisi Hint & Maria Ladopoulos, “BET project”, Johhan Rosenberg, Valeria Januškevitš and “Unholy Trinity” will be presented.

The Platform carries out its aims through different activities like everyday networking, a biannual 3-days showcase festival and representation in international gatherings for professionals in the field of contemporary dance. 

The first Baltic Dance Platform ( BDP) showcase took place in May 9–11th 2019 during an international contemporary dance festival New Baltic Dance in Vilnius (www.newbalticdance.lt). BDP presented about 60 Lithuanian, Latvian, and Estonian dance artists with main performances and pitch sessions, showed 7 performances and multiple audience engagement activities. BDP was visited by over 60 experts, theater- and dance company managers and festival organisers from Europe to Asia and to North-America. 

The second Baltic Dance Platform showcase took place on May 19th–21st, 2022 in Tallinn organised by Sõltumatu Tantsu Lava (STL) which brought together over 200 dance professional and international experts. 

Baltic Dance Platform delegations took part in the Düsseldorf Tanzmesse in 2022.
