Sõltumatu Tantsu Lava presents Kaur Tereps master’s thesis with Korfest, the festival of Tallinn University’s BFM choreography student works
BEMMIOTT lives fast — beemer, women, money. On the surface, he has everything. But something’s off. Beneath it all, there’s a restless need to prove himself… and it keeps his foot pressed to the floor.
Kaur Terep explores in his master’s thesis the pressure of self-validation hiding behind masculinity – a mask that grows into the flesh, and the voice being suffocated beneath it. In the performance, BEMMIOTTI’s faithful companion is his BMW E36: always there, always comforting, always rumbling. But when the engine falls silent, a question rises – what is BEMMIOTTI’s own voice?
“The biggest dick, I’ve got the biggest dick”
Kaur Terep is a performing artist with a background in music, focusing on physical and vocal self-expression. His creative practice weaves together performativity, body, voice and technology. He enjoys working with machines – a Tractor T-25 in the opening performance of the Kõu festival, and his BMW E36 as research material for his thesis. He is currently expanding his knowledge in the choreography master’s programme at Tallinn University’s BFM, and participated in the four-country university collaboration project interdisciplinary body (BIP), connected to his master’s studies. He has also furthered his skills through workshops with Young Boy Dancing Group and Song of the Goat.
